Bullet Size (Diameter): This is the most critical specification. Standard diameters are:
- Full Size: ~ 12.7mm (0.5 inches)
- Slim Size: ~ 10mm or 8mm
- Jumbo/Lip Balm Size: ~ 14mm - 17mm
Total Length: The length of the assembled tube (capped and uncapped) is important for shelf presence and packaging.
Mold Customization: The tube is highly customizable.
- Finishes: High-gloss, matte, soft-touch, metallic plating.
- Decoration: Silk-screening, hot-stamping, in-mold labeling, decals.
- Shape: While typically round, barrels can be oval, square, or triangular.
Mechanism Quality: A cheap mechanism will feel gritty, wobble, or fail. A high-quality mechanism will have a smooth, consistent action with no wobble.
Cap Security: The cap must fit tightly enough to not fall off in a bag ("cap-off resistance" is a key test), but not so tight that it's difficult to remove.
